Great Expectations’ mission is to revolutionize the speed and integrity of data collaboration. Our software platform, Great Expectations is the leading open source tool for data testing, documentation, and profiling. Data teams all over the world use Great Expectations to instrument and understand their data and machine learning pipelines.
This is an exciting time at Great Expectations. Our open source community continues to grow rapidly while we’ll soon launch our first cloud offering. As a member of the Developer Relations team, you will have the opportunity to shape the developer experience and build a community for data practitioners from around the world that include startups, leaders in tech, and fortune 500 companies.
We are looking for someone who will:
Create and uphold a high standard of developer experience
Represent GX within the community and the wider industry
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community
Champion for the interest of our developers within the company
Create educational content including documentation, code samples, and videos
Build meaningful relationships with data developers through online and in-person workshops and events
Improve our developer experience through feedback to Product and Engineering
Collaborate with engineering to support our open source product, including addressing bug fixes and shepherding contributions

The salary range for this role is $159,000-$196,000 plus equity. Our offers are made by taking into account the skill level, experience and location of the specific candidate. In addition to our compensation package, we offer a competitive suite of benefits.
Job requirements
What you bring:
Strong technical background, including 3+ years as a Developer Advocate or Software Engineer
Demonstrable hands-on programming experience and solid programming foundations; you will be coding up to 50% of your time in this role
Ability to communicate effectively with data developers with technical precision and authenticity
Passion for developer experience and community building
It’d be nice if you also had:
Previous experience working in data engineering, including knowledge of current data engineering tools and trends
Direct experience with data work in python, SQL, Spark, etc.
Experience as an Open Source contributor or maintainer
Data in your blood. The more curiosity you have about a wide variety of data from all walks of life, the better.
